Home from Africa

Wow! I was just in Africa for about 2 weeks and it was awesome! I can't wait to tell you all about it. Not that anyone ever checks for updates since I'm a loser and haven't written since October. Well, I hope to change that so keep checking! I have a ton to share with you!

Some highlights from my trip:
-No luggage for about 10 days
-Driving in South Africa
-Going on Safari for 2 days
-Being broken emotionally and spiritually
-Making awesome new friends from around the US and around the World!

A date in Indiana

So it looks like when I visit my parents in Indiana over Christmas break, I have a blind date. (If you can call it that) My mom has met a great guy that she wants me to meet and he seems interested in meeting me as well. Interesting...

I'm stuck

I'm having the hardest time writing my final paper for Old Testament. Ugh! It is not fun. How would you respond to this...

In 4-5 pp, showing a mastery of class materials, discussions, and readings, discuss how Genesis through Ecclesiastes in the Christian OT opens a particular future for humanity out of God’s own revelation within this particular text. How does this revelation compare the means and content of the revelation of the god of Moral Therapeutic Deism (Relationality)?

Yeah... that's why I'm stumped. I have lots of thoughts in my head... but how can I verbalize it in a paper? I'm going to be up very late working on it. I have one page done and am stuck!

Time is going very quickly

I got a 96/100 on my Hebrew Exam, and I'm pretty proud of myself. I have 2 big papers due on Friday so I'll be doing a lot of writing this week!

Who would have thought...

I'm feeling good about school right now. I received great comments from my writing proff on my first 4-5 page essay I wrote. I guess all those years working as a secretary, writing letters, newsletters and bulletins would come in handy. My proff usually give A's at all and if she does, she may only give one. Well... I got an A and her comments were that it was nearly perfectly edited and very compelling. After class, I was studying for Hebrew during chapel in the PBC when she struck up a conversation with me about my essay and my life. She told me that I am very smart and it surprised her that I didn't go to college after high school. Anyway, I'm very appreciative of the positive comments and the fact that she cares about my life & my experiences.

I had a Hebrew Exam today and I feel that I did well. I studied a lot and worked hard on learning vocab. This next week, I'm going to have to work hard on Old Testament reading. Our class is over on Monday by next Wednesday we have a 100 point Summary due, multiple choice test on Joshua through the end of the Old Testament, and a 3-4 page Essay for our final. Fun stuff. Good thing I have Monday through Wednesday off from work so I can spend a lot of time on the essay.

So far, college is going well! Oh yeah... and I realized last night that I only have to go to 12 chapels a semester because I'm over the age of 26. That means I only have to go to 1 out of the 28 chapels left because I've already gone to 11. Of course, I do enjoy going & will plan to go unless I have to study for a Hebrew quiz or test.

My niece is the cutest!

My sister Julia just called me to let my niece, McKyah, say hi and tell me "shake your booty". How cute is that?! She dances around and says it. I miss her so much! We need to set up web cams so that I can see her. Last week Jules called me and McKyah was sqealing in the background "Cooorrieee, Cooorrieee" because she was excited to see my myspace profile with pictures of me. She is too cute! I'm visiting them for Christmas, so I'm counting the days.

just the beginning...

I took my first official college test last Friday and already got my paper back on Tuesday. I got a 218 out of 250. I'm happy with that, especially since I stayed up that night writing a paper for another class. Now... my Hebrew quiz yesterday wasn't so great. Good thing we can drop our 3 lowest quiz scores. I need to spend another hour studying my flashcards. Pretty crazy considering I already spent over an hour and a half working on them. One cool thing is that my Old Testement Proffesor will ocassionally use Hebrew words and I know what they mean and how to say them before he explains it to the class. Things are going well. I'm taking a few people tomorrow night to PLNU night at Magic Mountain. I'm excited to go and see a ton of people I haven't seen for a while. So that's what's going on with me at the moment.
